Problem
The Singapore Red Cross was founded in 1949 and has over 70 years history of serving communities and saving lives.
Since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine they have been working to provide aid to the local population and within one week of opening their appeal had raised over $2m. In partnership with the Ukrainian Red Cross they began the difficult task of distributing aid in Ukraine at the beginning of March.
The key challenges in delivering humanitarian aid include logistical limitations and disrupted supply chains where critical infrastructure has been destroyed or badly damaged
TCB Group have been privileged to partner SRC since 2019 and were delighted to have been given the opportunity to provide logistical solutions to providing aid in Ukraine
Solution
Using Lithuania as a transit hub and working closely with our logistics partner in Lithuania, Axis Transport, we air freighted the aid from Singapore to Vilnius. The deliveries were cleared into Lithuania and delivered to the border between Ukraine and Poland.
On arrival at the border, they were received by the staff and volunteers on the Ukrainian side of the border to be distributed from there to final recipients.
Outcome
Two consignments have now been successfully delivered to Lithuania by air by TCB Group and successfully delivered to Ukraine.
