Streamlined Multi-Modal Transport Solution From UK to Australia
The Challenge:
A long-term client in the UK materials handling sector required a fast and cost-effective solution for transporting two pallets of machinery spare parts from the UK to a distributor in Australia. We have assisted them with the transport of goods to Australia on many occasions previously, but this time they needed a different solution. Given the nature of the parts and the lead times required by the distributor to maintain stock levels, traditional sea freight alone was too slow, while full air freight would have been cost prohibitive.
The Multi-Modal Solution:
TCB Group provided a fully in-house multi-modal transport solution that balanced speed with cost efficiency. The two pallets were moved on our regular air freight consolidation service from Manchester Airport to our TCB Singapore base. Upon arrival at Tuas Port, our local team, strategically positioned within Singapore’s Free Trade Zone, handled full transhipment and customs coordination.
The cargo was then seamlessly transferred to a scheduled Less-than-Container Load (LCL) sea freight service for onwards delivery to Australia. This seamless air-sea multi-modal approach offered a significant time saving over sea freight alone, approximately one-third of the standard transit time, while remaining within budget.
