As our business continues to grow, we’re looking for an experienced Ocean Freight Manager to lead the sea freight team in our Changi office. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious, experienced logistics professional to take ownership of a key department, lead a talented team and support the steady growth of the business.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the day-to-day ocean freight import and export operations.
• Develop, coach and motivate the ocean freight team to deliver exceptional customer service and operational excellence.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with ocean carriers, negotiating competitive freight rates, securing capacity and monitoring service level agreements.
• Manage carrier contracts, RFQs and pricing strategies to maximise competitiveness and profitability.
• Oversee shipment planning, execution and customer communication from booking through to final delivery.
• Ensure compliance with international shipping regulations, customs documentation and Incoterms.
• Monitor shipment performance using supply chain visibility platforms, including CargoWise.
• Proactively manage operational disruptions, implementing contingency plans for port congestion, blank sailings and schedule changes.
• Collaborate with internal departments and overseas partners to deliver seamless logistics solutions.
• Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, service quality and profitability.

 

About You

We’re looking for a commercially minded logistics professional with strong leadership experience and a passion for delivering outstanding customer service.

 

Essential Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, International Business or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5–8 years’ experience in ocean freight or liner shipping.
• At least 3 years’ experience leading and managing teams within a freight forwarding environment.
• Strong working knowledge of incoterms, ocean carrier contracts, customs documentation and international shipping procedures.
• Experience using freight management systems such as CargoWise.

 

Skill Requirements

• Excellent commercial awareness with experience managing RFQs, analysing freight rates and improving profitability.
• Proven ability to negotiate with carriers and build long-term strategic relationships.
• Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders across multiple countries and functions.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, including sales and marketing.
• Calm, decisive and solutions-focused when managing operational challenges.
